Rotary Projects

Rotarians provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Today there are 32,000 Rotary Clubs in 200 countries comprised of 1.2 million members. The Rotary Club of Nantucket provides financial to assistance and service for projects throughout the Nantucket Community, the Rotary District and Rotary International.

  • The Rotary Club of Nantucket’s major fundraiser for its scholarship program is the Annual Auction.

This year it was held on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Cisco Brewers, 5 Bartlett Farm Road, raising over $10,000.

  • In cooperation with National Grid (formerly Nantucket Electric Company), Nantucket Human Services, and other home heating fuel suppliers, the Rotary Club of Nantucket accepts contributions and provides fuel assistance to elders and families in need.  Since 1996, the Rotary Club of Nantucket has provided over $53,000 in fuel assistance. Contributions from Rotarians or from the public are accepted and can be made using PayPal or a credit card in the above dropdown menu under "Contribute".

  • If you know of someone in the community who is unable to perform minor home repairs and yard work or would benefit from a prepared meal or just someone to read with them, please go to our contact section and let us know.

  • Since 1977 the Rotary Club of Nantucket has been the first and largest sponsor of Nantucket High School’s Junior Miss Program.  The club provides a $3,500 scholarship each year.

  • Each year several Rotarians volunteer their time providing “Service Above Self” by manning the phones at the annual March of Dimes Telethon.

  • Beginning January 2009, the Rotary Club of Nantucket has teamed up with Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands, Inc. to assist with the Meals on Wheels Program.  Volunteer members of the Rotary Club will deliver meals on Fridays to members of the community enrolled in the program. If you are able to assist with this program, please contact John Stover at [email protected]

  • Since 1985 the Rotary Club of Nantucket has provided a pancake and sausage breakfast on Mother's Day as a way to honor Mothers and also to raise some funds. Since then we have served anywhere from 400 to 550 breakfasts each year. In 2008 the event was expanded to a buffet at the suggestion of Bill Puder, owner of the Faregrounds Restaurant.

  • Ms. Mantucket 2010

  • The Rotary Club of Nantucket is developing a program for educating and creating awareness of the problem of deer ticks on Nantucket, and working to help eliminate these disease causing pests. Many visitors are not aware that a deer tick bite may cause Lyme and other diseases. Treatment is available but should be started as soon as one is aware of a tick bite.  Last fall Daminex tubes were applied at the Delta Fields to help reduce the number of ticks in that area.

  • The Rotary Club of Nantucket is proud to help stop hunger in our community.  On the first Wednesday of every month, Rotarians bring in non-perishable food items or food gift cards.  The collected items are donated to the Nantucket Emergency Food Pantry.
