Joel Brown, 2007-2008 President, recognized the following people at The Rotary Club of Nantucket’s Annual Induction and Awards Dinner for a year of strong convictions and satisfaction.  It was a year of great accomplishments and goals were met. “I believe the exceptional fundraising, level of participation and overall camaraderie are noteworthy and could only have happened with the time and energy committed by so many members throughout the year. I am particularly thrilled to be able to provide special recognition to the following members of The Rotary Club of Nantucket”, said Joel Brown:

• Unsung Hero Award – William Larrabee, Sergeant At Arms
  Bill Larrabee works under the radar in a quiet way and continues to perform Service Above Self, he shows up and does whatever asked without question and has 21 years of perfect attendance.
• Bob Gardner, Secretary and H. Flint Ranney, Treasurer
  For providing years of administrative support as club secretary and treasurer.
• Keith Yankow
  For many hours of review of the club’s by-laws and recommending amendments for our by-laws to be consistent with Rotary International by-laws.
• Peter Louderback
  For photographing our events and luncheons.
• Melissa Long
  For hosting, what has become a popular make up opportunity, Thirsty Thursday.
• Nonie Slavitz
  For helping raise money for 3 ShelterBoxes.
• Chuck Gifford
  For finding great speakers each week.
• Bill Oliver, John O’Neill and Norm Berthelette
  For the prayer, invocations and songs.
• Mona Wheatley
  Who has more than fulfilled her role as “FineMaster” and has turned fining into a new art.

For demonstrating great examples of what Rotary is.  These ladies made a tremendous commitment of both time and energy:

  For her leadership in fundraising.  Debbie set a high standard and raised the bar.

  For her efforts with the weekly newsletter that is very informative and for the development of The Rotary Club of Nantucket’s website.
